‘Alterations EP’ – The Burnt Tapes May 28, 2017

Do you like your punk intelligent? Do you like your punk powerful? Do you like you punk with a little pop? Are you a fan of Blink 182, Sum 41, Green Day? Well if you have answered yes to any of those questions then I reckon you will love ‘Alterations’ the new EP from the Burnt Tapes. This London based, largely Greek band play punk that has the power to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. I really want to see them live now.

The Greek contingent left Athens to avoid their mandatory military call-up and frankly I don’t blame them. Title track ‘Alterations’ kicks the EP off and drags you in so hard you really won’t want to leave until all the tracks are done. The lyrical refrain “what the fuck can you change” is now firmly embedded in my brain. The five tracks on this review link are; “Alterations”, “Oh, Marie”, “Wayne Regretzky”, “Ghosts” and “Things Get Weird”. But looking online I believe there may be a further track entitled “The End Of Airlie Gardens”. My favourite tracks after playing the EP twice are Oh, Marie” and the magnificent opulent punk of “Things Get Weird”.

This is the third release from the Burnt Tapes and is due to be unleashed on the world on 2nd June on Lockjaw Records. The band consists of Phil Georgoulopoulos (Lead Vox and Guitar), Tone Apostolopoulos (Vox and Bass), Panos Tessaromatis (Guitar and Vox) and Jordan Hall(Drums). They should rightly be proud of this EP it oozes class and deserves to be heard. So don’t let them down go and take a listen. You will not be disappointed. They have four UK dates coming up which sadly I can’t get to, but if you’re nearby just be there or be square!

31st May – The Peacock, Peterborough
1st June – Wedgewood Rooms, Portsmouth
2nd June – Sanctuary, Basingstoke
3rd June – Urban Bar, London
