With continued humble apologies to the creators of the iconic NOW series of compilations that began in 1983, I posted and compiled the first WOW That’s What I Call Mayhem collection back in March, with volumes 2 and 3 following just a few weeks ago. So are you ready for volume 4? I certainly hope so, because here it is! This includes the fourth 20 singles we reviewed in 2024 in another maniacal eclectic playlist for your listening pleasure! “Mooie Ogen” – Patty Lou August 22, 2024

Dutch Singer-songwriter and Producer Patty Lou has appeared on these pages before. She is based in Amsterdam and has just released a new single. It is sung in Dutch, but thanks to Google Translate I believe it is a song about overcoming sadness in love and then finding love again in a kind of love rebirth. The title “Mooie Ogen” I believe translates as beautiful eyes. The music has a lilting, swaying Caribbean-style dance beat that would be perfect for a beach party. Patty Lou‘s vocal performance is a superb take on sublime pop. The language really doesn’t matter, this is a great song whichever language or dialect it might be performed in. This all proves just how universal music can be. It is wreathed in emotion and musically it oozes happiness. This song deserves to be a huge hit and I hope it is!

Supremely talented Dutch artist Patty Lou has collaborated with Django Black on a rather wonderful four-to-the-floor dance style take on Yung Bleu and Drake’s “You’re Mines Still”. The melodies could soundtrack the best dream that you ever had and Patty’s voice takes you on an ethereal journey to musical heaven via some clubby house sounds that also lean elegantly to the perfect pop song. Patty has a vibe of Rihanna and Craig David in this spectacular and infectious piece of 21st Century R&B
