I hope you are all doing well given what Covid has done and is still doing to us. I really hope that we will start to see the end of living on Plague Island in 2022. I would like to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone who has read, liked, or followed With Just A Hint Of Mayhem during 2021 and a big shout out to all of you who have been with us longer than that. I am especially grateful for the reviews that Paul and Tom have added to the site. Then of course the bands and artists that gave us some awesome Christmas messages this year. Personally, I have loved getting back to live gigs after so long, hopefully, this will only get better next year. We have been a little behind on reviews in 2021, we plan to do better next year. It just remains for me to say enjoy the rest of your Christmas and have a fabulous new year. You may have seen the Queen’s Christmas message, well this is mine!

A Christmas Message From The Last Of The Fallen Angels December 24, 2021

This is our 11th and final Christmas message for 2021, well you still have my own Mayhem Message to come tomorrow. I would like to say a huge thank you to all the bands and artists that have given a Yuletide message, we will definitely be doing this again next year. So this final one is from a band that always produces quality music, it is the Last Of The Fallen Angels. Conrad McQueen the Fallen Angels main man gave me some info about what they have been up to in 2021 and what is on the horizon for 2022. They released an 8 song CD earlier this year called “Radio Babylon” which features Peter Hook, Rowetta, Brinsley Forde, Victoria Owsnett and many more. The CD is available for only £10 and all sales go to Musicians Against Homelessness supporting Crisis. Just click here and in no time at all you will own this fine collection! As for 2022 apparently the Last Of The Fallen Angels will have some cracking new tunes for us, now that is definitely something to look forward to! Oh and if you think the Christmas message looks familiar, it is, it is last years message, which was so good we are using it again! Watch carefully and you will see an appearance from Taylor of Not Now Norman, who also provided one of our earlier Christmas messages.

A Christmas Message From Avalanche Party December 23, 2021

Just when you thought those Christmas messages had ended along comes another one, this time from a band that I have now seen as many times as I saw David Bowie, so twelve times then. I have been a fan and have followed Avalanche Party since I first saw an embryonic form of the band, under the name of 3 Foot Ninja back in May 2009. Probably one of the best live bands there is and their debut album in 2019 was stunning. Expect more material, loads more gigs, and a new album from the Avalanche Party boys in 2022. A Christmas Message From Not Now Norman December 22, 2021

Those Christmas messages keep coming, sadly it looks like this might be the last one for this year, but if it is we’ll go out with a bang because it is the dynamic, delightful, dynamite rockers Not Now Norman with a wonderful acoustic update to their rather spiffing song “Little Frankenstein”. This is “Christmas Frankenstein (With Just A Hint Of Mayhem Special)” exclusively for you dear readers, at least initially. In my opinion, everyone should have the opportunity to hear this. A Christmas Message From Pennine Suite

Those Christmas messages keep on rolling, the latest is from the very new, and very good, Pennine Suite. A band formed during Covid which includes three members of the Receivers, a band who are sadly no longer with us. The Receivers are dead, long live Pennine Suite! They have a gig at the Crescent in York on 27th December with support from Trueman & The Indoor League and Pavilion, get yourself down there if you can. This band are so new they don’t have any merch yet, but follow their FaceBook page to keep up to date with Nick, Louis, Moses, Harry and Louise, just click here to do that. Thier Christmas message is rather wonderful and you really need to watch it right to the end. I have been asked to inform you that no actual elves were harmed in the making of this video, but maybe the Little Drummer Boy was!

A Christmas Message From The Dead Zoo

The Dead Zoo promoting their “In The End” CD. The music is so tasty it’s edible!

Here comes the seventh Christmas Message for this year and it is from the rather wonderful Dead Zoo, who also provided a fab message last year too. Like many bands this year has been relatively slow for the Dead Zoo. However, that has not stopped them from releasing a fabulous single “In The End” which came with some banging dance mixes and a great cover of Mr. Bowie’s “Everyone Says Hi”. They have also played a few live dates recently. The Dead Zoo are on my bucket list of bands to see playing live next year! How about a particularly tasteful T-Shirt or a lighter/ bottle opener combo, now the latter is pretty ace in my humble opinion!

Today’s second Christmas message (our 5th in all) is from AP Tobler, a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who is overflowing with talent. Regular readers will know her as she has featured in these pages quite regularly. A few months back AP, who resides in San Jose, released a rather magnificent EP, ‘Alternate Vision’. Her singles have all been classy and she seems to get better with every release. A Christmas Message From PERCY

For the second year in a row, those West Yorkshire Superheroes PERCY have sent all the readers of With Just A Hint Of Mayhem a Christmas message.

Here is what they have to say! “Happy Christmas everyone and a hard-rockin’ New Year from Percy. Live opportunities were rare for us in 2021 and we want to thank all the venues and punters who braved the circumstances to keep the live music scene in York alive. We are a busy bunch and as well as putting in the hours growing our hair long we have managed to get together and write a brand new album that we plan to bring to you in the early Spring. It is a fast-paced set probably reflective of us all being wound up tight all 2021… The working title is ‘Chunks’ which is about living in a big pie. Yep, a big pie. That is Percy for you.

A Christmas Message From Skylights December 19, 2021

Today’s Christmas message is from ace York band Skylights and presented by guitarist supreme Turnbull. The band has had a phenomenal year by so many standards, which is even more amazing given the Covid restrictions that have existed for much of that time. There was a delicious stripped-back version of “Darkness Falls” back in April and sell-out shows which stretched to Scotland and Ireland and of course plenty in Yorkshire. They were due to close the year with two more sellout shows billed as “homecoming” gigs in York at the Acomb Working Men’s Club. Sadly Covid has meant those two shows have been postponed until April. I will be there! Then of course there will, hopefully, be the eagerly awaited album on the shelves in 2022. If you haven’t got into Skylights yet then where have you been?
