So tell me dear readers, how many of you are viewing this while waiting at airports for the cloud of volcanic ash that is crippling Europe at the moment. It is the result of the massive explosion from the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajoekull. It looks likely it will be with us for quite a while yet, click here to read about it’s current path on the BBC website. It seems to be affecting many, many people right now. Gary Lineker took a 24 hour journey back from his holiday in Tenerife to present Match Of The Day last night. A flight to Madrid, a drive to Paris and then Eurostar back to London. John Cleese paid £3,300 for a taxi from Oslo in Norway to Brussels in Belgium, where he also got on board a Eurostar train. So I hope that you find your way home soon. Thankfully I have no plans to take a flight for some time.
So to help you while away the time here are a few related songs;
“I Can’t Stand The Rain” – Eruption – A disco cover of the classic Ann Peebles song from 1978
“Volcano” – Damien Rice
“Gobbledigook” – Sigur Ros – a rather excellent band from Iceland
“Hit” – Sugarcubes – a great song from the band that included Bjork before she went solo. It’s a weird but superb video

It has now been discovered that it wasn't an Icelandic volcano that erupted, but it was Bjork's volcano hat
“Army Of Me” & “All Is Full Of Love” – Bjork – I love Bjork so I had to include two from her. But she’s a bit of a Marmite artist isn’t she? You love her or hate her
“Mum Has Gone To Iceland” – Bennet – A great but underrated slice of Britpop from the 90s
according to me people are always asking for more than they have earned
