“Red Dress” – The Last Of The Fallen Angels ft Hannah Robinson July 9, 2022

“Red Dress” is the new single from the Last Of The Fallen Angels and it is out now. The first minute builds wonderfully into something like a musical film noir. The synths are almost sinister at times and the bass rumble adds to the suspense. Hannah Robinson’s voice is haunting and mesmerising in equal measure. Conrad’s deep counter vocal adds to the darkness of the tune. It was produced and mixed by the band’s long-time collaborator Simon Ellis who you will know from his work with the Spice Girls, S Club 7, and Westlife. But trust me this song goes way beyond that group of acts and is a supremely good production. I believe that “Red Dress” may be about gender and how gender lines can be so fluid. The press release refers to the song as “a Trans Atlantic story of love separated by an Ocean. It plays with ideas explored in great songs such as “Lola” (The Kinks) and “Walk on the Wild Side” (Lou Reed). and I can see that. It also delves into online relationships and finding love (or lust) online. The video directed by Henry Phillip Thompson is a thing of sublime beauty and enhances the song gorgeously well. Is this the best single so far from The Last Of The Fallen Angels? I think it is, although they have another due out in September and a new album coming soon too. If this band is not in your life yet then I need a thesis from you explaining why! OK fact fans there have been quite a few songs called “Red Dress”, notably the Sugababes who took theirs to number 4 in the UK charts in 2006, and Alvin Stardust who took his to number one in the UK in 1974. “Red Dress” by The Last Of The Fallen Angels is not a cover and if there was any justice in the world it would match Alvin Stardust’s achievement and reach the top of the charts!

“Edge Of The World” – Last of the Fallen Angels ft Victoria O March 30, 2022

Every so often an act appears that you immediately think why are they not huge? For me, The Last Of The Fallen Angels are definitely in that category. The new single “Edge Of The World” is a sad, rolling, chilled tune that brings me great joy and sadness in equal measures. It takes a great tune to do that to me. It has an ethereal trip-hop choral feel to it and is most definitely cinematic in its scope and depth. It was written by Last Of The Fallen Angels main man Conrad McQueen with Victoria Owsnett a.k.a Victoria O who provides those gorgeous vocals. It was produced by Simon Ellis who shared all the musical instrument duties with Conrad. The video is a spectacular wide-screen take on the best of those 1970s science fiction films where humans set out to colonise another planet. This is not the first time I have featured The Last Of The Fallen Angels on these pages and it won’t be the last. Click here to stream this delightful and beautiful tune on Spotify.

A Christmas Message From The Last Of The Fallen Angels December 24, 2021

This is our 11th and final Christmas message for 2021, well you still have my own Mayhem Message to come tomorrow. I would like to say a huge thank you to all the bands and artists that have given a Yuletide message, we will definitely be doing this again next year. So this final one is from a band that always produces quality music, it is the Last Of The Fallen Angels. Conrad McQueen the Fallen Angels main man gave me some info about what they have been up to in 2021 and what is on the horizon for 2022. They released an 8 song CD earlier this year called “Radio Babylon” which features Peter Hook, Rowetta, Brinsley Forde, Victoria Owsnett and many more. The CD is available for only £10 and all sales go to Musicians Against Homelessness supporting Crisis. Just click here and in no time at all you will own this fine collection! As for 2022 apparently the Last Of The Fallen Angels will have some cracking new tunes for us, now that is definitely something to look forward to! Oh and if you think the Christmas message looks familiar, it is, it is last years message, which was so good we are using it again! Watch carefully and you will see an appearance from Taylor of Not Now Norman, who also provided one of our earlier Christmas messages.
