Fulford Arms Battle Of The Bands 2024 – The Final October 19, 2024

Well, it has been an exciting Battle Of The Bands so far this year, six excellent heats and three semi-finals that were the closest ever! But only four bands can make it to the final and those talented bands are; Patience (Semi-final 1 winner), Theseus (Semi-final 2 winner), Offbeat (Semi-final 3 winner), and Sleuth Gang who were given the coveted Judge’s Wild Card. They were my wild card choice!) I have been involved as a judge in this fine contest for three years now (and sometimes stand-in compere) and it gets better. The talent in the music scene in York and Yorkshire is huge. Who will win? I have no idea it could be any one of these four amazing bands. I reckon it will be very close again too. Have you got a ticket? I hope so because they sold out in something like eight hours! It might not be as exciting as the other prizes on offer but if any of the bands would like to do an interview at With Just A Hint Of Mayhem sometime after the final, just give me a shout! The Fully Arms Battle Of The Bands contest is back baby! After two hugely successful and titanic battles in 2022 and 2023, the truly gladiatorial music contest is back for 2024. Is your band ready, fit, and able to join the names of previous winners in the Fulford Arms Hall of Fame? How will your band’s name look alongside the Palava (2022) and Hærtstrings (2023)? Each year has had a gargantuan level of competition worthy of Valhalla, Asgard, and Olympus! Check out the poster above and get your entry in! Being a judge at the previous two contests has been among the most exciting and fun things that I have ever done, and trust me I have not led a sheltered life! Anyway, I will be dusting off my judge’s robes and legal wig ready for September to join a fabulous group of fellow Fully Battle Of The Bands Judges! I will see you there for the heats the semis and the final! Just to up the ante there is a slight change to the rules this year, where in addition to the usual set of all originals, each band will be asked to play one cover, chosen by the Fulford Arms, what a wicked wheeze that is! I have added a few videos (Chech & Chong, Jack Black, and My Little Pony Equestria Girls) which may give you some inspiration 😉

Battle Of The Bands 2023 – Fulford Arms, York – The Final! October 22, 2023

Here we are, after six heats and three magnificent semi-finals today is the grand final of the Fulford Arms Battle of the Bands 2023 competition. We have seen some incredible performances from some spectacularly good bands. But only four remain. Offbeat, Hunter Gatherer, and HÆrtstrings all won their semi-finals and Ømmis are this year’s judge’s wild card. I am once again on the judging panel for this sell-out show, so I don’t think it’s fair to review it. But I will say that I think the contest tonight will be as close as hell and truly gladiatorial, although the spilling of blood, and probably no chariots! I hope to see you there, bring it on!
