I am overwhelmed by the spirit, kindness and effort shown by so many bands who have given us a Christmas message here at With Just A Hint Of Mayhem. This one is from a great British band, the Suncharms. All being well they hope to brighten up 2021 with their debut album. Based on what we have heard from them so far I am sure it will be bloody good! Get yourself some rather excellent Suncharms tracks over on their BandCamp page, just click here. There is also a rather decent looking T-Shirt on the merch page too, click here for that. The band also contributed a fab track to ‘Comfort and Joy – A Shiny Happy Christmas Compilation’, click here to download the album, it’s a corker!

A Christmas Message From The Receivers December 21, 2020

I am really enjoying the numerous Christmas messages that some of our favourite bands have put together for our readers. This one is from yet another great band from York, yes we are a hot bed of musical talent up here 🙂

Thanks to social distancing it is singer and guitarist Nick who is giving the message on behalf of the band, but the sentiments are shared by all the other Receivers. This band have released a couple of awesome tracks this year. You can check them out below the Christmas message. While you do click here and buy yourself some great vinyl and T-Shirt Receivers merch. Hot off the press the boys have secured a support slot with The Royston Club at the Victoria Vaults in January, click here to get yourself a ticket, this will be a sell out!

The 12 Days Of, Mostly, Punky Christmas – Day 9

We really are so close to Chrimbo now, four more sleeps. While the UK is mostly locked down and Kent becomes a lorry park even before Brexit take your mind off all of the shit in the world by taking a listen to the next tune in our 12 Days Of Mostly Punky Christmas. After a band that took their name from a New Found Glory lyric yesterday, today I thought you might like New Found Glory themselves with the jaunty pop punk of “Ex-Miss”. New Found Glory formed in Florida in 1997, yes they really have been around that long!

A Christmas Message From The Spit Sisters December 20, 2020

Dear constant readers, less frequent viewers and newbies we have another delightful Christmas message for you. This time it is the turn of those angry, satanic queers from London, the Spit Sisters. After reviewing their latest single, “Sylvia” back in October I am definitely a fan. Check out the excellent video for “Sylvia” below too. Thanks to Covid driven social distancing it is Jaz giving a great message on behalf of her and the band. She even throws in a few lines from “Homo Christmas” which I believe was a Pansy Division song. I might be an old, white, straight bloke, but I know stuff like that!

Anyway while you are viewing the Chrimbo message from this marvellous band check them out on BandCamp. You can buy “Sylvia” and “Weak” by clicking here. Also if you are stuck on what to do for those last minute Christmas presents, why not buy a fabulous Spit Sisters logo patch, they look rather excellent (check out the picture above), just click here and buy one for your Gran or the Vicar!

The 12 Days Of, Mostly, Punky Christmas – Day 8

Day 8 of the With Just A Hint Of Mayhem, mostly, punk themed 12 days of Christmas series is here, which has been your favourite track so far? After yesterday’s announcement by our laughing stock Prime Minister we really need music! Todays choice is from a band who I have seen at UK festivals quite a few times. They are from Maryland, USA and they took their name from the lyrics “Head On Collision” by New Found Glory. Ladies and Gentlepunks I give you ALL Time Low with what ought to be a Chrimbo classic, “Merry Christmas, Kiss My Ass”. A great fun video too!

A Christmas Message From The Dead Zoo December 19, 2020

Only six more sleeps until the bearded weirdo drops down your chimney, are you excited? I think I am. So excited in fact that I am sending you another great Christmas message from another fabulous band that we love here at With Just A Hint Of Mayhem; The Dead Zoo. We have featured them before, click here to read our review of their rather splendiferous single “Mother”. I have had a sneak preview of a couple of tracks the band plan to release in 2021 and they are both incredible, so incredible that they will put a a very special shine on the new year, especially after the shitstorm that 2020 has been. The Dead Zoo Christmas message is below.

Here is what the band have to say to you 🙂 “We had a really promising start with four great live shows in winter 2019 and 2020 before Covid and we’re looking forward to building momentum again in 2021 with the release of our next single in the spring. Our debut “Mother”, released in the summer, did really well and we raised a lot of funds for #saveourvenues

We’re really grateful for the grass roots blogs and music fans who supported us in the early days and we hope we can all go forward together, no matter what.”

Somrata, Kaoru, Gabby & Jon (collectively known as the Dead Zoo) xx

Are you ready for another Christmas message from another of With Just A Hint Of Mayhem’s favourite artists? You are? Good, this is from another great York band, KAYA, but thanks to social distancing the message is from KAYA’s Joe Mishra. Check out his message below. KAYA also release a beautiful and incredibly emotional Christmas single today! The video for the single, which had me welling up, is posted below. Click here to visit KAYA’s website and while you’re there why not buy or stream the wonderful “Falling On Me” today, get yourself some KAYA merch too!

The 12 Days Of, Mostly, Punky Christmas – Day 7

Day 7 of the With Just A Hint Of Mayhem, mostly, punk themed 12 days of Christmas series I hope you’re enjoying it so far. What plans do you have for a socially distanced Chrimbo? Todays choice might upset some punk purists, but frankly I don’t give a shit! This thrown together band includes 50% of the Sex Pistols (Cook and Jones) plus Phil Lynott and Scott Gorham of Thin Lizzy. Lynott had a great punk attitude and he associated with many punk luminaries. They were originally called the Greedy Bastards but for this release they were the Greedies. Put on your Christmas trousers and strut your stuff to “A Merry Jingle”.
